Heat shield – Semi-rigid refractory mat for insulation

Functionality

Semi-rigid refractory complex in mat form, intended for thermal insulation.

• Protects heat-sensitive walls and coverings (plaster, paint, wood, fabrics, etc.), even in corners, during welding.
• Double-sided use due to the shield's symmetry.
• Silica felt-based design: very high flexibility and long service life.
• Does not release fumes when heated.
• Asbestos-free and ceramic fiber-free.

Implementation

Instructions for use

1. Position the shield between the pipe and the covering to be protected.
2. When brazing, follow best practices:
   • Uniform heating of tubes and fittings by continuous flame sweeping.
   • Flame oriented to envelop the tube or fitting, avoiding any overheating.
   • Remove the flame immediately after applying the filler metal (temperature < 900 °C).
3. Refer to soft brazing and hard brazing manuals (Soudure Autogène, Paris) for detailed operating conditions.

Practical advice

After use, keep the heat shield in its plastic bag to extend its lifespan.

Storage

Stored in its original sealed packaging, away from humidity, the product can be kept for up to 10 years.
