Heat shield – Semi-rigid refractory blanket for insulation

Functionality

Semi-rigid refractory complex in the form of a sheet, intended for thermal insulation.

• Protects walls and coverings sensitive to heat (plaster, paint, wood, fabrics, etc.), even in corners, during welding.
• Double-sided usable thanks to the symmetry of the shield.
• Silica felt design: very flexible and long-lasting.
• Does not emit fumes when heated.
• Free from asbestos and ceramic fibers.

Implementation

Instructions for use

1. Position the shield between the pipe and the coating to be protected.
2. When brazing, follow the rules of the art:
   • Even heating of tubes and fittings by continuous sweeping of the flame.
   • Flame oriented so as to envelop the tube or fitting, preventing overheating.
   • Remove the flame immediately after applying the filler metal (temperature < 900°C).
3. Refer to the soft soldering and hard soldering manuals (Soudure Autogène, Paris) for detailed operating conditions.

Practical advice

After use, store the heat shield in its plastic bag to extend its lifespan.

Storage

Stored in its original closed packaging, away from humidity, the product can be stored for up to 10 years.
