Tank pumps (air conditioning condensate)

Air conditioning condensate tank pumps are devices used to remove condensation water produced by air conditioning systems, especially when gravity flow is not possible .

What exactly is it for?

1. Condensation water drainage :
   • As air passes through the air conditioner's evaporator, moisture in the air condenses on cold surfaces and forms water ( condensate ).
   • This water must be drained, otherwise it may damage equipment or cause mold.
2. Use in non-gravity installations :
   • In some cases (e.g. wall-mounted air conditioner or air conditioner installed in the basement), evacuation via a natural slope is impossible.
   • The pump then pushes the water to a higher or more distant discharge point (sewer, sink, outside, etc.).
3. System constitution :
   • A small reservoir collects the water.
   • When the water level reaches a certain threshold, a float triggers the electric pump which expels the water.
   • Some pumps include a failure alarm (useful for shutting down the air conditioning in the event of an overflow).
